Android 5.0 Lollipop and battery consumption

Much has been said about the controversy generated by Android 5.0 Lollipop battery problems. Apparently the update Lollipop generated problems with excessive battery consumption primarily affecting the Nexus range devices, which was precisely the first to receive this update. Since this error is known, one of the greatest fears of users was that these battery problems may also be present in Lollipop updates in large manufacturers.

Precisely for this reason, from the Italian website HDBlog have been proposed to discover the differences in battery consumption of higher-end phones with Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop. This study analyzed battery consumption present in every high-end smartphone, performing the same tests of autonomy to drive an updated Android 4.4 KitKat and another unit updated Android 5.0 Lollipop. Is there a difference between KitKat and Lollipop? The first conclusion from this analysis is that the update Lollipop affects differently the autonomy of higher end smartphones of each brand. The Samsung Galaxy S5 seems to be the main beneficiary of the update of Android 5.0 Lollipop, since in all tests the autonomy of this mobile autonomy from Android 4.4 KitKat is higher; however, if the Nexus 5 is completely different, since all tests show a loss of autonomy in updating Lollipop regarding KitKat.
Battery Test: Android 5.0 Lollipop VS Android 4.4 KitKat
Autonomy call. The Samsung Galaxy S5 appears to be the only motive for this test has been improved battery life during calls after updating Lollipop, as the LG G3, the HTC One M8 and Nexus 5 have worsened their figures of autonomy compared to the version of KitKat.
Autonomy in web browsing. With respect to autonomy while browsing through Internet from your mobile browser, the only ones who have improved their figures are the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8; the LG G3 and Nexus 5 provide less autonomy in this section after you upgrade to Lollipop.
Autonomy in video playback. Finally, figures of autonomy in video playback show that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the only one that offers more hours of video playback after upgrading Lollipop. The HTC One M8, the LG G3 and Nexus 5 offered a greater number of hours of battery life for video playback before receiving the latest version of Android.
